Tis the Season...

...To be done with finals, decorate a christmas tree, buy christmas gifts, be domestic, watch christmas movies, listen to christmas music, wear beanies and snow boots, enjoy sleeping in, spend time with family, wear ugly sweaters, and GO SKIING (if UTAH would get snow)! Travis and I love this time of year! Travis mostly because my stress level drops significantly and me mostly because scientific terminology is replaced with jingle bells! It has been little rough being away from the families during the season and missing the parties but we have had such a blast up here in the Pacific NorthWest. The first of december was spent in the anatomy lab and travis watching TV. After finals were finished, it was full blown christmas town! We got our tree from a lot in downtown Pullman, decorated it with lights and decorations and Travis spent hours on our balcony making sure it looked just right! Me and my classmates were so excited about the end of the semester we got together for an ugly sweater party, white elephant gifts and WAY to much food. It was refreshing to hang out not at school. It has been great doing normal things that are not school related! Travis is obsessed with Christmas lights! Ours, the neighbors, Pullmans, and anywhere else. Some friends and us went down to Lewsiton, ID to see a light display in a park down by the river. It was charmingly awful! The trees were hung with mismatched lights and hung completely lopsided but it was so beautiful in its own way. Travis also surprised me with an over night trip to Couer d'Alene to see the light show around the lake. We ate amazing chinese food, then caught the ferry for a ride across the lake to "Santa's Workshop". It was a fabulous weekend to just relax, enjoy the christmas spirit, and spend some time together. We really have enjoyed Washington and can't wait to continue exploring it. We leave for Utah the 22nd and can't wait to spend Christmas with the families!

Thanksgiving...

Thanksgiving came as a much needed break. We were lucky enough to be able to go to Utah for the break. I went home for a week and Travis met me in Utah the night before Thanksgiving! The vacation was pretty mellow, I had two stipulations...eat at Dairy Keen and Ride my mule. Both were achieved beautifully! Seeing the family was the highlight for sure. We were able to go un to Logan for Thanksgiving dinner. The entire Godderidge family got together for dinner with great food and good fun! We were able to go trap shooting the day after thanksgiving and a Pheasant hunt the day after that. Needless to say our arms were sore! We had a great time being back in Utah and are excited to come home for Christmas.

WOOOO 2nd set of Mid-Terms are done!!! It is such a relief every time a set of tests are done. This weekend was a three day weekend since WSU gets Veterans day off. I didn't even know what to do with myself! A whole day off, with no tests needing to be studied for! I slept in, cleaned my house, did laundry, took a run OUTSIDE, (it's too dark in mornings before school, so to the gym I go), I had to study a little, but just the normal every day keep up! Then I watched tv shows, baked banana bread and made dinner, pretty much all of the household and wifely duties I neglect during the semester. Weekends have become nothing much to look forward to since I end up at the school at the same time as during the week. But as 7 am rolled around this Saturday I just turned over and went back to sleep! Travis was a little taken aback by the fact that I was still in the bed Saturday AM. Apparently he quite enjoys sprawling across the bed on saturdays after I go to school! We have found an awesome gun club in Colton WA which is about 12 miles south of Pullman. The town of Colton has about 200 people, a bank, and a gun club. You bring your own shells and guns and pay 3$ per 25 skeet. We headed out the last 2 weekends with some friends and it has been a blast. A great way to get outside and OUT of the vet school. We had a great time with great company. We will be making it a regular outing.

Fall 2011...

My favorite time of year is fall! The excitement for the ski season is upcoming, the leaves are changing, and the air is crisp! With the second set of mid-terms going on I haven't enjoyed fall as much as I would have liked but we did find time to squeeze in some pumpkin carving and as celebration for finishing our Anatomy test the Vet school throws a Halloween Party. I was a little burnt out Friday afternoon so I decided I didn't really want to go but as the evening wore on I decided it would be fun so we scrambled together some costumes and headed out! I forgot how much fun it is to dance! We had a so much fun dancing all night with some new friends and of course checking out all the costumes! Our pumpkin carving came last week as a study break for our "utah state" family (we have been dubbed that at school). We headed to the Heaton's and carved pumpkins. Kyle and Tess's were a little tough to cut into so the boys brought out the power tools. It took a while but they turned out pretty good. Last night we continued the post anatomy test party going and headed to this small town 15 miles from Pullman called Palouse. They close down the entire main street (2 blocks) and have a haunted carnival. There are 2 haunted houses and a haunted hay ride. It was so much fun! I have such a soft spot for small towns and this was the ultimate small town moment. Everyone in town participates, the "concessions" are two little old ladies selling hot chocolate and home baked goods in ziploc baggies. It was the perfect amount of terrifying but fun at the same time so everyone was happy! Enjoy some pictures of our Fall outings and the count down to Thanksgiving begins!!

Every time I post a blog I wait for the phone call. "THE RAD" shows up on my caller ID and I smile knowing exactly what the conversation will sound like. "Micall...I read your blog, you didn't mention me. Don't you know that everything you do has been influenced by me?" Regardless of what the blog is about or if there are pictures of my older brother or not it's not enough. So this is a blog ENTIRELY about my eldest brother Brian! I'm sure it will trigger a domino effect through the rest of the fan wanting a personalized blog but I've got to do something to end the phone calls. Brian and I have a very weird relationship, we always have. Growing up I always was one of the guys so I did everything with he and my dad and when Hunter came along he came too. He pushes me to do things that I don't want to or am too chicken to do. All he has to say is "why are you being such a girl?" and I immediately jump off the cliff, throw the 360, race him to the end of the pool, box w/ my sister, run farther, ski faster, pretty much compete at anything. He sometimes mistakes me for being a boy for example "Travis! You turned my little brother into a GIRL!!!" He was take off guard by a husband in the picture but they have bonded. I have accomplished more and been pushed further because of him and I will always be grateful for that. As our relationship evolved I began to challenge him back... I'll give you 1$ if you eat this butter and BBQ sauce mixed with gravy. In which he retaliates with " 2$ to drink a shot glass of beet juice" or my mom's favorite " Mic I'll give you 5 bucks to smurfer my armpit"... yup we have a twisted twisted relationship. I am easily bought and bribed by him. While growing up when we would stay in hotels, Hunter and Tehmi would share a bed because Hunter liked Tehmi better and Brian and I would share even as we grew older we continue to share tents while camping and hotel rooms. He is weird and I am weird we have a very unusual bond that I love. He is the ultimate older brother and I love him for that! Here is to you Brian... Your very own BLOG! Love you much!!

The title of this blog may take most of you by surprise but it's true I have made huge improvements! I have made dinner almost every night we have lived here. Not just mac n cheese or pasta roni... like real meals. I have decided that Travis is going to just have to get over his anti-leftover idea. It is impossible to cook for just two people unless you cook pasta roni, which is why that is all I have made for the last two years...(ok maybe not the only reason...) Moving away has inspired me to start cooking real meals. This has come about because Travis and I both have the ability to have a hot lunch, the Vet school has microwaves EVERYWHERE so I can heat up leftovers and Travis comes home for lunch (he works across the street). Now there is no excuse for me to not cook large well balanced meals. As I keep writing I know my mother is tearing up with pride and my sister's mouth is dropping. (My brothers are laughing in disbelief). So yes I have made the following: Black bean chicken chili, stuffed shells with homemade breadsticks, baked cream cheese spaghetti,homemade biscuits, chicken roll ups, stir fry AND... every sunday: ROAST, POTATOES, HOMEMADE ROLLS, GRAVY, and CARROTS. I believe that the need for my brain to think about anything but school has pushed me to cooking meals PLUS my stomach wanting real food. We will see how long this new me sticks around but hopefully it lasts a little longer! Thanks mom and Tehmi for answering my phone calls mid-meal to help me out!

Oh hello! We have had a crazy two weeks and are so grateful for the break! Travis started his new job and I had my first round of midterms. Basically we didn't see each other for 9 days! Travis is loving his new job and more importantly they are loving him! I survived my tests and might possibly have done well! The few days before Travis' job started he decided to get in his last little project. We were out on a Sunday drive a few weeks ago and we drove past an antique store with some things sitting out front. It was closed but had a slot in the door that said "slip your money through the door and take what you need"! It was so funny how trusting these little towns are. We looked around the antiques outside and found this really cool old barn door. Travis was convinced he needed to make something out of it. We left and he kept contimplating it... When I came home from school on monday it was sitting our back deck. He had already gone to work on it. With the start date of his job coming up he had to get started. There was a bit of a glitch during the process. Travis may have got a little overzealous with his brand new chisel he was using to smooth the edges. After a trip to the urgent care and a refusal to let me practice my surgery skills, sanding, hammering, more sanding, assembling and staining we have 9 stitches and a new coffee table! I am so proud of my husband! I feel like he has been on the job search for over a year now. Including searching in Logan, finding a job in SLC then immediately beginning his search for here in Pullman. Since we decided on Washington State he has been on the look out for jobs. He has filled out hundreds of applications and mostly to no avail. The largest company in Pullman is an engineering firm that employs 3000. Travis knew that this was his best bet for finding a great long term job. We both wanted him to find a job that would build up his resume so that in four years when we move, he will have built up a background in something to further his career. Since this summer he has been in contact with Schweitzer Engineering by applying for an internship that had opened online, hoping to just get in the door. The guy heading up the purchasing department (which is where the internship was) called him and said I really like your resume and you are overqualified for the internship so I want you as a buyer but we can't hire someone straight out of college. When we moved here he went to a lunch with this same guy who said "I want you BUT you have to convince by senior executives that I can hire you with no experience." He told him to prepare a 20 minute presentation on the topic of purchasing while relating his personal qualities to the topic of purchasing commodities. So Travis spent a week preparing and researching this presentation. They set up an ALL day interview starting with a tour, his presentation, a technical interview, a benefits meeting, then a follow up meeting. I was a nervous wreck all day at school knowing Travis was doing all of this! At the follow up meeting they told him they had to meet with the Senior VP who was in a meeting so they would call him later Wednesday evening. At 5 o'clock Wednesday they called him to come back over ( we live across the street) and OFFERED HIM THE JOB!!! I know this was a very lengthy story for this news but I was so proud of the work Travis put in to secure this job. He is super excited about it and he starts on Monday! It is fully benefitted with tuition reimbursement for higher education and gives him the opportunity for a new skill and advancements. He can't wait to start, he is completely over cleaning the apartment and running errands! Good job Travis!!

Cougar football is what people do in Pullman! Even though WSU is not good at ALL. The entire student body shows up dressed in Crimson and Gray! Not just some of the students, or most of the students, ALL the students, parents, alumni, faculty, kids, infants, and senior citizens! We got some great free tickets for being professional students so a group of us from the Vet school decided to take a break from studying and head to the game. Decked out in our WSU gear we drug out the BBQ and had our own tailgating party with our friends. We were unaware that there were such strict tailgating policies on campus, like you can't unless you pay 85 bucks a season for a pass, so we just had one in our parking lot where the boys could throw the football. After more food than necessary we started the trek to the stadium. Fall has not arrived here in Pullman, instead a heat wave has hit, rocketing the temps into the high 90's! The game was awesome and the people watching was even better! We sat in the student section for the first quarter but decided we are old married kids and moved so we could sit. The cougs dominated UNLV 59-7 and we had a blast cheering them on! Even though it was 95 degrees it was worth the Wazzou experience! Our family away from family is really getting some good bonding time, hopefully we will continue to like each other for the next four years! P.S. I know I have been on a blogging feign but don't get your hopes up...test start next week so I will be MIA for awhile but enjoy these!

A night at the County Fair...

We absolutely love Washington! We heard about a fair going on in a little town just outside of Pullman so we headed up there after the evening study session. Travis LOVES fairs and all day we had been dreaming about carnival food. 4 words...hand dipped corn dogs! We drove out around 7 just as the sun was setting and it couldn't have been more beautiful. The rodeo grounds are out in the middle of a wheat field that you just come up to behind the hill. We headed straight for the food and WOW did we eat way to much! Corn dogs, mini doughnuts, funnel cakes, fresh lemonade, and deluxe nachos. This small town Colfax is the epitome of small towns (even smaller than Heber). The fair had everything, cows, pigs, chickens, and sheep. We roamed through all of the barns after the food, stepped in and watched the end of the rodeo and walked through the carnival games. The boys were feeling pretty homesick about missing our brothers high school football games so we headed over to Colfax High to cheer on the Bulldogs!! We watched the intense last 10 minutes where the came back from behind and WON! The 5 cheerleaders were very excited! It was the ultimate evening, seriously we are absolutely loving Pullman and the surrounding area.

Labor Day...

Weird! It was a bizarre experience making plans for labor day weekend. For as long as I can remember we do something with my family for my dad and brothers birthday. This Labor day was looking pretty boring, I needed to study (story of my life) and Travis needed to work on a presentation for a job interview. Friday night was very uneventful as we just caught up on errands that get forgotten during the week. Saturday morning I left for school around 8 and studied till around 2 o'clock while I was gone Travis had been successful in getting most of his presentation done. We decided last minute we were going camping at 3:00! We gathered all of gear, scavenged our pantry and picked up our friends. We drove about 40 minutes outside of Pullman to the Clearwater National Forest. We found a perfect little camp spot nestled in some trees next to a stream. We had a bit of a misconception on the tent that traveled to WA with us from UT. I believed we had a 4 person tent that was quite nice. After setting up our tent...well it was a bit small. Let's just say Travis and I cuddled real close that night! We had a fire, great dutch oven cooking, s'mores, and some beautiful scenery. We missed my family for the annual Labor dat vacation but it was a pretty good substitute. Thanks to our friend Kyle and Tess for the great company!

Vet School...

GO COUGS! WSU is a such an awesome campus and Pullman is a beautiful area. After arriving and unpacking two weekends ago I headed off to COLE which is cougar orientation leadership experience...aka Girls Camp. Me and the other 103 members of the Veterinary class of 2015 headed up to Post Falls, ID. (5 miles outside of Couer d'Alene) There is a baptist camp there that is set up to inspire leadership, bonding, and team building. We spend 2.5 days listening to lectures on how to be think outside the box, put down the competitiveness, and help each other through Vet school. There were definitely some team building activities such as climbing over walls, walking on tight ropes, and navigating through mazes. Sadly, there were no trust falls. I was looking forward to them! I know I sound sarcastic while saying all this and well... I was but it was a really great experience. It forced all 104 soon to be vet students to stop being competitive and realize the race is over, we all got in. Now it is time to help each other out and push each other to be better. It also gave us a chance to get to know each other before we stepped into class on the first day of vet school! I was ready to be home after 2.5 days but it was really fun. After I came home late Wednesday night we headed up to Spokane on Thursday to pick up my dad from the airport. We explored the city of Spokane for a while and ate some great food. We were able to find the Spokane Temple which is nestled in the middle of a subdivision just like in Utah. It is tiny but still beautiful. Friday we spend the day being typical College orientation family. We took a tour of the Veterinary school and teaching hospital, toured WSU campus, hit up the book store where my mother bought anything she could that said WSU and VETERINARY SCHOOL! It felt like I was in kindergarten getting ready for school, several stops to the book store, picked up my coveralls, got new muck boots, found my scrubs and of course the school supplies. Friday afternoon was the official "White Coat Ceremony". It is a celebration to welcome our class into the profession and congratulate us on all of our hard work. It was so exciting to finally feel official and to allow this accomplishment to set in. My parents and Travis were there to support me and I was so grateful for that. Saturday we decided to venture up to Couer d'Alene and tour the area that we will be living around for the next 4 years. We happen to arrive during the national annual wooden boat show. Lining the docks all around the Couer d'Alene resort were 150 old restored wooden boats. They were beautifully restored and functional. We meandered our way back to Pullman taking the scenic byways. It was a blast to have drive around the area with my parents and show them where we live. We were able to try out all the local cuisine..which was hit and miss but mostly good! Sunday we drove my parents back to the airport and said good bye! We are now all set up to start our new "adventure" and we are ready. Thank you to both of our parents for getting us all settled in!

Welcome to the Pacific Northwest!

We officially have moved to Washington State. We made it to WA on last friday after the LONGEST drive ever! It took us 14 hours to drive from Heber to Pullman. Which at about hour 9 my mom and I were completely over the drive. Travis's parents were able to drive up with us and pull our giant trailer, while Travis drove my car with my mom and I. I wish I had a picture of our trailer because we had so much stuff loaded in that trailer including Travis' CAR! You would never believe it if you saw it but yes his car was buried inside the trailer! We unloaded all of our stuff when we arrived with the help of our friends from UT that live here in Pullman as well. All of Saturday was spent unpacking and organizing. My in-laws were so sweet to drive up Friday, work all day Saturday and then turn around and drive home Sunday! I promptly left Monday morning for a 3 day orientation camp leaving my mom and Travis to finish up the apartment. I wish I could say that I am a 22 year old married, professional student and I don't need my mom anymore...but I can't. I could have never moved without her! It was so nice to have our house completely put together before I started school. I could have never been able to go to school Monday morning knowing that my house is a wreck. Thank you mom so much!!! School so far is going great I will update more in a couple weeks. Also we absolutely love Pullman, it is a great little town nestled in miles of rolling hills of wheat field! Here are some photos of our cute apartment, thanks mom for all of your help!!

St. George...

So many things have been going on this summer it has been crazy. I know you are shocked that I have not been able to keep up on the blog front but I have been trying! We just returned from the annual Godderidge St. George golfing vacation. Since Travis was little his family and extended family have been going to St. George over the 24th of July. The weather is hot but the golf is cheap. We took advantage of both. Travis golfed 7 days in a row and I jumped in for 3 different rounds. The days were perfect, up early 18 holes before the heat settled in, get back to the condo for some lunch then head straight for the pool. The pool was my favorite part because well, let's face it I don't deal with the heat very well. We played non-stop with our nephews dunking, racing, diving, and wrestling. After the pool we headed to someplace great to eat every night. Between rounds of golf we slipped in some shopping, running, ice cream runs, and some fiesta fun. As usual, we were great at taking pictures (sarcasm) so there are not many to demonstrate our fun week. We had so much fun and it is crazy to realize we are almost leaving Utah! Thank you to all the Godderidge clan for a great week!

Look How Cool We Are...

Everyone always claims that they have the best friends but I really do! I was talking with my mom the other day about how unique my group of friends are. With the exception of a new roommate that hit it off, I have officially not made a new girlfriend since 9th grade. A group of 9 of us have been friends since High School, we stay extremely close even while living in other cities, states, and even continents. We have now been graduated from high school for 4 years and continue to be very close friends. I love that we can not talk for a few weeks and pick up the phone like nothing has happened. You can always count on that whatever the circumstances we make it to the wedding/shower/baby shower. We have forced our husbands/boyfriends/fiances to become friends or at least tolerate each other because no matter what we are staying friends. My friends are completely drama free, if we have a fight or someone is being rude we just don't talk for a few days and we are over it. Nothing ever escalated or caused a lot of work. Our friendships are easy. We have to work to keep in contact but the relationships take no effort. Random texts, facebook comments, surprise lunches, phone calls just because, laughing and mocking to keep from crying, and lots of food are the keystones to our unique web of friendships. I hope we keep up this beautiful friendships through the rest of the weddings, babies, divorces, deaths, graduations, job changes, moves, and anything else life throws at us. I love you all so much, So Sarah, Kaylee, Danielle, Morgan, Heather, Cami, Kamrie, and Kenna thank you for being the best friends ever!!

Summer Life...

It has been about a month since USU Graduation so I figure I'm doing well with blogging. We have been having a blast this summer. Travis is still working in Salt Lake at IHC, he does not love the commute but he does love the job. For my job...well I'm pretty much just labor. I watch my sisters kids once a week and then do pretty much whatever needs to be done on the farm/yard. Now that the weather has finally warmed up and the snow has melted in some places I have started riding our mules/horses to get them in shape. We just got back from a week long vacation with my family up to our barn in Bondurant, Wy. We scheduled this about 6 months ago and declared it a kids free week. If you don't know my family then our type of vacation may confuse you... Over the week we whitewater 8 miles down the river, rode bikes 50 miles, ran up a mountain 3 times covering 16 miles and 2,000 feet in elevation, had a feats of strength on a homemade teeter totter testing our abs ability, and golfed 36 holes of golf. Between these events of physical endurance we attended Bar J wranglers, drove through Yellowstone in a 16 passenger van (you know for more family togetherness), stopped at old faithful to see many bubbling mud holes, shopped and gallery hopped, and ate a lot of great food. We enjoy every action packed minute of our vacations and this one was no different! I'm sad I don't have any pictures of our Indian runs up the mountains because we saw some beautiful country. Thanks to my mom and dad for such a perfect week. We look forward to a whole week with Travis's family in St. George for lots of golf and lots of pool time!

USU Graduation

Graduation Day!!!! Finally after 8 finals weeks, 139 credits, millions of study hours, thousands of diet cokes, 3 apartments, one boyfriend, one fiance, one wedding, one husband, 38 A's, 7 B's, one dreadful C and 4 very long years I have graduated from Utah State University. I may have seen more of the inside of the library and spent more time with my study group than I saw of my house or spent time with my husband but it is now worth it. It seems like that first semester was so long ago but at the same time it feels surreal that I am a college graduate. I'll put my official degree in writing so that my mom can stop asking me what my degree is again... I graduated from Utah State with a Bachelor of Science in Animal, Dairy, Veterinary Science with an emphasis in Bio-veterinary Science. I also received a minor in Biology and a minor in Chemistry. I know it sounds very intense but in short it is Pre-Vet. USU and Logan have been a great experience and Travis and I had a blast living there and made some really great friends. Graduation was an exciting event with Travis, my parents, both grandparents, and in-laws in attendance. Travis opted out of walking in commencement so we made a deal that he must at least take a picture of both of us in our cap & gowns. Travis and I both could not have accomplished this without the support of our families. There are two people in this world that have wanted me to graduate college and go on to vet school more than me; my dad and then my grandpa. Both have supported me and encouraged me through everything. I am so grateful for my family and my husband for the support. I openly admit that I am a complete wreck during finals and Travis was there with diet cokes and charleston chews. I may only be at half-time in terms of my education but I am going to fully enjoy it. Here is to a party summer and serious family time. Thank you all who helped us get through the last four years!

I continue to get crap from my family for my lack of blogging and I can't even use the excuse of I am too busy with school...because well I'm not. I just stink at blogging. I am in my final semester of undergrad at Utah State and you can tell. Being accepted to Vet school makes it impossible to be motivated for school. It is quite a phenomenon that I no longer study for tests weeks in advance, not even days in advance, I now begin studying the night before or day of. This used to make me panic but now I just don't care. It is sad that I am getting the same grades if not better with this new studying philosophy, I hope it's because my classes are easier and not that I have wasted hundreds of hours overstudying. You would think I would enjoy this beautiful thing of spare time and spend some quality time with my husband but nope we are having a "trial separation". It sucks. Travis got a job in downtown Salt Lake, it was too good of an opportunity to pass up so he currently lives with his parents in Farmington while I live in Logan. He does drive up usually one day a week and then we meet up on the weekends. It is no fun at all but it is only for 4 more weeks!!! I will be graduating the first week in May and then we will be moving to Heber for the summer! So forgive me for the lack of blogging it is obviously not for the lack of time, my life is just not that exciting. I go to the gym, attend class for about an hour a day, clean my already clean house, watch FNL and Gilmore Girls, put of writing my papers (again just don't care), talk to Travis on the phone then get bitter because he interacts with people, and now I have begun to pack. There you have it, a detailed description of my life. Travis on the other hand is crazy busy, he works for IHC in the corporate treasury full time and also he has picked up side jobs doing tiling and finish work so he can have some spare money for new golf clubs. Not to mention living with his 16 year old brother, I choose to not ask what those two get into. We are both excited to be living together again and "yes" Dad we still love each other! I will try to be better at updating or be better at being interesting one of the two!

Drumroll please....in the middle of August Travis and I will be moving to Pullman, Washington and attending Washington State University! We are so excited to have finally made a decision. WSU finally feels right, and we are ready to go! We will be moving to Heber for the summer to save some money, then we will be heading to Washington in August. Now the goal is to try and stay focused on the last half of my semester. Which is turning out to be harder than the previous 3.5 years! Graduation is only 7 weeks away!!! Travis found a job finally, sadly it is in downtown Salt Lake which means he stays a couple nights a week in Farmington with his family and a couple nights up here with me! It sucks royally spending that much time apart but it is only for 6 more weeks. We are becoming champs at phone conversations... which is a big improvement for me. We are both looking forward to the end of the semester! Summer is coming fast and I can't wait.

I am a little late with January due to busy life and my lack of enthusiasm for blogging! The new semester started and I have serious senioritis. I have a very laid back school schedule and am taking full advantage of it. My study sessions have dwindled to nothing and it is great! Travis had a few weeks off before starting a new job so we were able to spend a lot more time together and make time for friends. We had my annual friend party which was a blast as always. With our numbers slowly doubling we decided to invite the boys this year. It was great to make our husbands/fiances/boyfriends get to know each other. They may never be as close as we are all but they are becoming friends! With a day off of school we threw together a getaway with 2 other couples to my parents place outside of Jackson Hole. A four day weekend was just what we all needed. The boys built an EPIC snow fort! Seriously, it was unreal. Along with snow cave building, we snow shoed, watched movies, went shopping in Jackson, and of course ate a lot. It was so much fun to get of Logan and get away to do nothing! January was a month for friends... so here is to February and whatever that brings!

Alright, so as most people know I have been working toward becoming a Veterinarian my entire life. This summer I started the application process which is a giant pain. But the applications were in October 1st and the waiting began.I applied to 10 different schools all across the country. The leads being the schools in the west, Washing, Oregon, and Colorado but we were not going to be picky. The beginning of December I received an invitation to interview at Ohio State University! I flew out there just before Christmas and interviewed with the board of admissions. Two days before Christmas I received an acceptance letter!!!!! I could not have been more THRILLED! It was such a huge pressure relieved, I GOT in. Two weeks after Christmas I received even better news. I was awarded WICHE funding! WICHE is a government funding program for professional schools. They provide funding to cover my out-of-state tuition costs for three schools out west, Washington, Oregon, and Colorado.. This funding is awarded to four students out of the pool of 30-35 applicants across Utah. With this I received admission to all three schools!! We couldn't be more excited!! Travis and I have some BIG decisions to make on which school we will be heading to! So Please feel free to place your vote, all will be taken into consideration!

The holidays are the best part of the year! With Travis graduating and between jobs and I being between semesters we had plenty of time to spend with family and friends. We had such a great time with everyone. The Saturday before Christmas is our Tolbert Family christmas party which is my highlight of the year! It is always so much fun getting together with the family. We spent Christmas this year with TJ's family. We had "Gregmas" at hour house on Christmas eve's eve. The annual Godderidge party is on Christmas eve every year up here in Logan, so the night before TJ's brother and wife with their two boys come and stay at our house the day before. We eat lots of food, play games and don't get a lot of sleep. The Christmas eve party is always a hit! Fun games, great food, good company, and family, the party is a blast. Christmas this year we stayed with Travis' brother. It was great to open christmas presents early in the morning with little kids. The excitement is just amplified with little kids! The week following Christmas we headed up to Heber and Skied. My brothers and Dad and I got to go cat skiing the Monday after and it was UNBELIEVABLE. We had so much fun skiing great snow and in great company. For New Years we headed to my parents Barn in Bondurant, WY where we did nothing and loved every minute! It was -45 degrees making going outside a little unbearable but we still loved every minute. Hanging with the family is always so much fun and being able to do so all break was great. Slightly after the new year, I was able to get my friends together and hang out! We were terrible with the pictures when everyone was there but we got some with a few of us!! I am now back to school and TJ is on the job hunt. We are ready to be done with school but excited for my last semester! Hope the Holidays were great for all!

Travis is officially a grown up today! He graduated from Utah State with a degree in Finance as well as a degree in economics. It seems to be very anticlimactic due to the fact that Utah State has done away with December commencement. I feel like his huge accomplishment has been overlooked. So with that in mind, I wanted to let him know how proud I am of him and what a BIG deal it is to graduate college. He has worked hard in school while working full time which has made for little time for the two of us to hang out but it was worth it because now he is DONE!!! I am very proud of you Travis and I love you much! (sorry for lack of pictures...my camera is being held hostage)

I don't remember November. Seriously where did it go? This month has flown!! I spent the first three weeks of November in the library... I know shocking. This semester is almost over so I will get to relax and see my husband again. Travis was asked by the Business school to attend a conference in Chicago the beginning of November. It was an all expenses paid conference with two other kids that are also presidents of Business groups. I don't know exactly what the conference was about because all I heard about was how much fun they had in Chicago seeing the sites.

Thanksgiving was a blast! We had a great dinner with Travis's family the sunday before Thanksgiving with all of his siblings. Then after the last set of midterm tests, we headed to Bondurant, Wy to spend the weekend with my family. We went into Jackson for a day and played in the snow and did what we all do best on thanksgiving, eat, eat and EAT! Food was great and the company was better! Travis and I both are looking forward to the end of the semester and the Christmas season!

Whew... it has been a crazy few months only to lead into even busier months! With school in full swing, Travis and I hardly see each other, and when I say hardly... I mean Never! I have a crazy schedule this semester that has caused me to study literally everyday all day long. Travis has saved my life! He has really stepped it up on the home front. He hates to admit this, but he has really become good at being domestic. I have been so grateful for him. Hopefully, my schedule will ease up after this semester and he can gladly step back from house duties! Over the last few months we have found some time to get together and have some fun! September and October obviously bring in the deer hunt, we spent two weekends up in Bondurant, Wy hunting for TJ's tag...sadly we were unsuccessful! TJ hiked his butt off but to no avail, oh well next year. We were able to hunt a few days with my dad for his tag in Utah. The joys of having a Utah tag is we were able to hunt right from home! Both my brothers, Travis and I were all able to go up with my dad. It was so much fun to all be there, I must be a good luck charm because he got one! See pictures below! For Halloween we invited some friends up to come shooting with us and over for some chili and a get together. It was a blast, it started to rain which cut short the shooting outing but the rest fun. Even with the crazy schedules we try to find time for some fun! Hopefully the next few months will allow some more fun!

I will now just blog about entire seasons rather than events, since obviously that is what happens anyway! This summer we moved to Heber. I had a internship at a large animal vet clinic in Heber and Travis had an internship at IHC financial branch in salt lake. I also was taking some classes at UVU. We most definitely just partied all summer long! Since my internship was unpaid, I worked for my dad this summer on the Mountain Top Mules ranch. I rode our horses and mules all summer. I couldn't have had a better job. I was also deemed head mexican, while Hunter was my subordinate. We had some ups and downs trying to be the boss and sister, but by the end of the summer we made it work. In addition to my great job of riding in the mountains everyday, we also took huge advantage of the membership to Promontory Country Club. My dad, TJ and I played A TON of golf! Seriously it was probably not healthy but we sure had fun. TJ was finally able to come on the annual Pack Trip. It was fun to show TJ our favorite vacation ever. Immediately after returning from the Pack Trip, TJ, Hunter and I competed in the Spudman Triathlon in Burley, ID. For not training the three weeks prior, we all did pretty good! TJ did beat me... unfortunately but it was close. So after a summer of horses, golf, training, golf, work, golf, laying by the pool,vgolf, school, golf, pack trip, golf, and triathlons we had a blast of a summer!

I know I am officially the worst blogger ever! Our lives are a bit crazy! A quick update... Travis and I finished up another semester at Utah State. Travis will graduate this coming december...YES!!! and I will graduate the next semester in May. We have currently moved to Heber for the summer. Travis got an opportunity to intern at IHC, in the financial branch in downtown salt lake city. I am interning at a large animal vet clinic in Heber...(hence the move). I am also taking some classes at UVU so I can get done. We have officially started the application process to Vet school!!!! It is overwhelming and exciting all at once. We will know the outcome around December or January. We are definitely enjoying our summer, golfing, riding mules, and training for our upcoming triathalon. FINALLY!! A break from school! Travis and I decided the week before spring break that we needed to get out of logan. We have in the past just had to work through spring break, but this year we have to work and go to school through the summer so we decided to go to Vegas for spring break! Ya I know very exciting! We drove down wednesday night after work with our friends Jason and Kylee. We stayed at my grandparents house in St. George wednesday night, then drove into vegas Thursday morning. Our friends had never been to Vegas so it was that much more fun. We stayed at the RIO. Home of the Chippendales! Travis wouldn't let me go....:( Just Kidding. We went to the Cirque Du Solei show "O" in the Bellagio. It was UNREAL! Jason's mom got us amazing tickets on the 8th row. We went to dinner in Caesars and wandered the strip. We laid by the pool friday and saturday morning. Went on the New York New York roller coaster and all the other vegas tourist things to do. ! And I'm not gonna lie I totally won playing roulette! I was going to take advantage of being 21 in vegas so we played a little at the tables, until we realized it was no fun to play when you are poor and loose your allowance all at once! But I was the winner for the weekend so I made up for Travis's losses....that 10 bucks from penny slots made a huge difference!! It was so much fun to just get away from school and work for a couple days, hang out in the sun with friends.

I am blowing everyone's mind with my blogging today! I need a break from studying and keep my mind busy from fretting over the GRE. So last Thursday was a very big day in the Tolbert Family! Both my sister Tehmi, and sister-in-law Heather gave birth to darling little girls!! It was so much fun to see them. They both look exactly like their older sisters! Tehmi and Heather's rooms were right next door so we were able to jump back and forth visiting both girls and hang out as a family. I can't wait for them to get big and our house be chaotic with little girls! I love all four girls so much! It is my favorite part about going home. Here is some pictures from the hospital.

I have been getting a lot of crap because I am terrible at blogging, it is not that I suck at it, it's just that nothing exciting ever happens in our lives! Travis and I are very boring, we had a great Christmas break and spent lots of time with family and friends. Now back to school and work! We both go to school and work full time. We pass on campus and wave! I know very sad but we try to make time for each other on the weekends. Travis will graduate this coming december and I will graduate a semester after. I am about to begin applying to Vet school. Talk about NERVOUS! It will be great to get applied and done with that. We will go wherever they let me in. We are hopeful to stay out west and closer to family but who knows! There is an update on our lives...like I said pretty boring. I did get the chance over the break get together with all of my girlfriends. It was a blast to get together with everyone and catch up! Our lives have all become so crazy and hectic we tend to loose track, texting and facebook is amazing! We finally were able to all meet up and go to Happy Sumo, our favorite restaurant. I know you are all shocked that I remember how to blog! With finals coming up and me being a stress freak I knew that if I didn't get our tree up we wouldn't ever get it done! So this last weekend my mom and I went to TAI PAN to get some christmas decorations. It was a bit overwhelming but we had a blast. I put up the decorations around the house when I got home sunday and then TJ and I got our tree between classes on monday! It is fun to have our own christmas tree!!! Thanks Mom for helping me!!!

The Antelope Hunt

I'm sorry that I have been such a slacker on the writing front, and I'm not gonna lie it probably won't get better with school coming up but I will try. Earlier this month TJ had the long awaited antelope hunt. My dad, brothers, uncles and cousins and TJ all ventured out to the indian reservation out past wendover in search of the biggest antelope! TJ shot his on the first day and was very happy about it! The drama came when he came home...well at least for me it did. He got home late sunday night and I was very happy... (I kinda missed him!) So being the supportive wife I helped him unload and put away everything. Then it came time to cut off the horns of his antelope before the smell infested our house. So once again I was supportive...I was holding the horns while he sawed at them with a VERY dull hack saw. That didn't work. So we used a dremel to get through the tricky spots...that didn't work. Instead of cutting through the skull he cut into the EYE BALL which exploded ALL over me! yup all over me! good thing that I work with nastier stuff everyday. After the dremel failing we borrowed up a Saws-all and got through the skull finally. With the skull came a piece of the brain as well! TJ laughed when I picked it up to examine it. Needless to say it was a very long evening and we both washed up after! Congrats on the Antelope TJ it was awesome!!!

I know I am a horrible poster! I haven't updated in a long time!! TJ and I are doing great! Very busy with working and all the fun stuff of summer! Over fathers day weekend we road tripped with my parents through jackson hole and yellowstone and then over to Cody, Wyoming. Those of you who know me well know that I hate to road trip. I would rather just sleep until we get there but this trip my dad was determined to keep me awake and force me to enjoy road tripping. And it worked!! We had a blast. Lots of driving but we had lots to chat about and lots to see. But most importantly, we had mule business to discuss. That is the whole point of the road trip. We were heading up to Jake Clark's Mule Days in Cody, Wyoming. A month before the sale we had sold two of our mules that I was quite fond of so my dad promised me that I could take the profit from those two mules and buy my very own! I have never had a mule that I could call my own, I just rode whoever! But now I do!! After countless hours of studying the mule catalogue and 2 days scouting and riding and asking questions on every mule at the sale ( 108 of them) We had it narrowed down. I gave my dad the top 8 with a top 3 of those and let him loose in the auction ring. It was very exciting and I was a nervous wreck but we got one!!! Well two actually but we are not allowed to talk about that, Deb wasn't so happy with the second buy. Here has some pictures of our awesome new Mules!!! Cayenne and Honey! I have a handy husband!!! ( who knew!) TJ decided to spruce up our little back patio and try to divide us from the railroad tracks, so he built me some planter boxes and a bench! It is so freakin cool! I love it! And not to mention I helped!!!! Not much but I put my sawing skills to work!We still have to stain so it is all the same color but it started raining before we got that far. I'm so excited to have a little flower garden! I need a project to keep me busy. Next up we are going to make a garden on our patio. I feel so grown up with flowers to water and weed. It will be so much fun. Thanks TJ!!!!

There is a pasture that is right next to our house that is home to my pet pheasant, Ralph! He is by far the biggest pheasant I have ever seen. There are several that live all around us but he is the biggest and is there every day. So I adopted him and named him so TJ would stop figuring out ways to kill him. I tried to show my pet to my parents last week and he had disappeared and they didn't believe me so I have been on a mission ever since to get a good picture of him. It was tricky but I finally caught him! They are so loud! They wake us up every morning squawking at each other. Now I have a picture and everyone can see my new pet!

30 hours of studying, 8 finals, 80 hours of work, 15 miles of mountain hiking, countless hours scouting turkeys, 5 failed attempts, baby showers, delivering 10 puppies, packing for a week, FINALLY killing a turkey!, 8 A's and 4 B's, and TONS OF DIET COKE about sums up our last week of school. Between TJ's turkey hunting, finals, and work we were more then ready for our vacation to Florida. It's a good thing TJ and I are married, because most run from me during finals!I don't know if anyone knows, but I'm a wreck during finals. I study more then I should, freak out when I don't need to, and am ornerier then anything! I think Tj felt since I was freaking out so much, it was enough for the both of us...hence why he spent finals week on the mountain hunting for turkeys. The difference is he can still get A's! (Punk!) TJ's turkey was well deserved and very cool.

We then took off to Florida for a week! I couldn't have been more ready! Our friends the Burk's had a condo in Orlando for a week so the four of us packed up and went. It was a blast! We had a great resort with a fantastic pool! All of us had done the disney world thing, and were short on cash so we went to Universal Studios and a Disney Water Park. We had a so much fun, it was nice to get away from school and work. Here are just some of the pictures..enjoy!

I call my family on a regular basis to just chat. I talk to my mom and sister about everything, school, work, TJ, bills, cooking, anything and everything. My dad and brother on the other hand don't really care about that kind of stuff. So I talk to them about the stuff I think is cool! Well Brian has informed that I need to draw the line. He doesn't think some of these things are cool! My family has informed that I need to blog about these things because they find them so hilarious! So I have my weekly call to tell my dad and grandpa what I did in my Animal Health and Hygiene Lab. Last week we were doing physicals on dairy cows. All of you who know me, I am short, cows are big...thats a problem... you would think! They have invented a handy little stepping stool that allows short people like me to climb on up to examine the cows. After listening to them breath, checking their heartbeat, listen to gut noises it was time for the "rectal examine". Now my teacher was not specific in his directions at all. He gave us some brief pointers on how not hurt your shoulder while going deep into the back end of a cow and then turned us loose! So I grab my should length glove and some lube and pick my cow. I walked up to a shorter one and picked up her tail. I dove right in...I was feeling around for the any signs of uterus or cervix...feeling a bit lost I looked up at my teacher as he whispered "wrong hole"....I had gone into the wrong hole!! I was feeling around for the uterus in the cows rectum!! To my entire family this was hilarious! I on the other hand was very very embarrassed!! Don't fret I will be practicing next week!! Rascal Flatts and Jessica Simpson

Thursday night we went to Rascal Flatts and Jessica Simpson. We didn't just go to the concert...we went with style! My dad did some work with the tour manager for Rascal Flatts. My dad and mom and Tj and I had front row tickets and Meet n' Greet passes. We got to go backstage and meet Rascal Flatts before the show started and had our picture taken with them. Then we were lead to our seats and we just kept walking closer and closer to the stage. We were literally less than five feet from the stage. Definitely close enough to see if Jessica Simpson was really fat...and she is not! I wish my legs looked like that! I have always loved Rascal Flatts music but not a big fan of the band because they are a little pop star for me but they put on a great show! And who is to complain when you are that close!! It really was a great night! Thanks Dad the tickets were amazing!!

Happy President's Day

After begging and persuading our way out of work for President's Day, we went to Heber for a long weekend. We go there late late on friday after the longest work shift ever! But all was forgotten Saturday morning when we surprisingly got to sleep in! Instead of waking up at the break of dawn to catch the first tram at snowbird we decided to try a different kind of skiing. My parents and brothers have gotten in to cross country skiing, they wanted to get us in on their new obsession. I actually enjoyed the work out...it kicked my butt!!! TJ liked it but was on a different kind of ski that was A LOT more work. Obviously we didn't get pictures of that. ( I'm still new to blogging so the thought of a picture doesn't cross my mind.) I think we will stick to downhill skiing for a while. Presidents Day the whole fam (minus my sister-in-law who drew baby sitting duty) went to Snow Basin for an awesome ski day! I have created a monster of a husband. He is no involved in our sick world of ski obsession. He begs every day to skip work and go skiing...Hey I am not complaining I just never thought I would have to say no to skiing! He has now skied a total of 5 days and is awesome!! Snow Basin was great! Tons of new snow and great terrain. TJ has not choice but to keep up because my family does not wait. He is now racing me down the hill....and coming close to winning :). Nothing is more fun then Family ski days and I am so excited the TJ is now there! We had a great weekend! Thanks Deb and Trace!

Roller Skating

Our friday night in Logan consists of debating what we are going to do for most of the night until we watch a movie. But this weekend I talked TJ into going roller skating! I love good ole classic skating! So our friends Zac and Sarah and TJ and I went to Logan FunPark to go rollerskating and play arcades. It was quite entertaining to watch us roller skate...literally roller skating not roller blading roller skating! It is not as easy as it looks! Here are some pictures of our evening!

Our First House!

Our very first house...it has been a process putting everything together! We are a long ways away from finished but it is looking quite cute! I'm very proud of it.

Our very first Christmas was different...It was way weird not being with my family for Christmas but this year we were with TJ's family and spent Christmas working! I drew the short straw and had to work on christmas. ( I work at a Vet clinic, and apparently dogs need their medicine and food on christmas too.) So we woke to a BLIZZARD! Walked dogs at 6 am drove down to farmington and spent Christmas morning with Tj's parents and little brother. The rest of his brothers came over for christmas breakfast and we spent the rest of the morning playing with Kyle's new toys. We sadly had to return to logan to walk the dogs. After the afternoon walk me and TJ hung out at our house watching movies . Then back to the clinic for a final walk in 18 inches of fresh snow...it was a bit cold. TJ did become a fan of some of the dogs. All in all it was a great holiday!!

Honeymoon!

So I know the wedding comes first but I don't have any pictures of that yet! We went to Puerto Vallarta, Mexico on our honeymoon and stayed at the Canto Del Sol Resort. It was fantastic! We laid on the beach and drank pina coladas for 5 days! What more can you ask for? We had a blast! It was kind of depressing coming home to the snow but good to get settled in our new house.

This would be where I spent most of my time, drinking pina coladas!
